WOMEN AND WOMEN IDENTIFYING PROCESS GROUPS
COMMUNITY
As a therapist, mother, partner, and person in community, I have come to an understanding that we all are affected by and struggle with societal norms.
When we can gather in community, we can support each other to learn to look beyond these norms and inward to ourselves as the experts in our own unique identity.
My personal and professional work has been grounded in both liberation psychology, which is an approach that seeks to understand and liberate people from the structures and forces that hold them back, and feminist therapy, which is based in power analysis, or the consideration of how differences in power and privilege between genders or various social or demographic groups can affect feelings of self-worth, mental health symptoms, behaviors, and life choices.
ACTIVISM AND EMPOWERMENT
As a younger activist and feminist in the 80s and 90s, I felt the therapeutic value of women's liberation groups in the community and I feel called to offer women, and women identifying, process groups to counter the sense of isolation and powerlessness that we can feel in our modern society. These process groups can provide a very effective framework for personal as well as interpersonal and social change, based the belief that our wellness is inextricably linked to our social and cultural identities.
Please reach out if you are interested, groups are forming and will be held on-line or in-person. We will have in-person components located in a 24 foot yurt on 4 acres near the Olympics.
